Taoiseach and Tánaiste extend their condolences to families of four Tipperary accident victims

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Tánaiste Leo Varadkar have extended their deepest condolences to the families and friends of the four young people killed in an horrific single vehicle crash in Clonmel yesterday evening (Friday). 

In a statement, the Taoiseach said the "whole nation mourns" their deaths. 

"Leaving Cert results night should mark the beginning of a world of opportunities for young people. It's a milestone on the road from childhood to adulthood. For young lives, so full of possibility, to be cut short in this way is truly devastating and heartbreaking. The whole nation mourns them." 

Mr Varadkar expressed his sympathy to the families and friends of those who died and the wider community. 

"I am assured that the school authorities and HSE will work together to put in place the necessary supports for their classmates and community. We must come together in times such as this."

Tánaiste Micheál Martin, meanwhile, has sent his thoughts and prayers to all those grieving the tragic death of four young people in a single vehicle accident in Clonmel yesterday (Friday) evening. 

In a message issued on X (formerly Twitter) in the wake of the horrific crash, the Taoiseach said he was deeply saddened by the "tragic, heartbreaking" loss of four young lives in Clonmel 

"Our thoughts and prayers are with their families, friends, classmates, the first responders, and the entire community," he added. 

The four, a man aged in his early 20s, and three women, aged in their late teens, died in the crash that occurred just after 7.30pm yesterday on the Mountain Road in Clonmel.
