This year’s event promises a lively and colourful celebration filled with music, culture, community spirit, and family-friendly entertainment.

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the death of Charles Bianconi, the Italian-born entrepreneur who revolutionised public transport in Ireland, participating groups are invited to embrace the optional parade theme - Transport Through the Ages.

This year also celebrates the 40th anniversary of the twinning of Clonmel with Costa Masnaga, Bianconi’s birthplace.
The organising committee is also delighted to announce that the Grand Marshal for the 2026 parade will be Mary Prenderville of the Powerstown/Lisronagh branch of Comhaltas, that is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.

Mary first became involved with the branch over 30 years ago and has been a dedicated member ever since, serving as treasurer for more than 22 years.

Over the years, Mary has been instrumental in nurturing traditional Irish music in the community.
She has been an enthusiastic mentor for young musicians, helping to coordinate sessions and cultural events, and creating an encouraging, inclusive atmosphere where the tradition continues to thrive.

The celebrations will begin with a flag-raising ceremony at St Patrick’s Well at 8:20am, followed by a morning parade departing Mitchell Street at 11:15am and proceeding to St Mary’s Church, Irishtown, for 12 noon Mass.
The main St Patrick’s Day Parade will commence at 3pm, travelling from the West Gate to the Town Hall, led by Banna Cluain Meala.

The procession will feature the Grand Marshal, the Mayor of Clonmel, local councillors and dignitaries, as well as visitors from Clonmel’s twinning towns, Costa Masnaga and Reading.
Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to line the streets, join in the festivities, and celebrate the very best of Clonmel’s community spirit.
