The scheme is phase 1 of a two-phase development off Davis Road and behind Lidl in Clonmel town centre

Planning permission has been lodged for phase one of a large housing development in the Davis Road area of Clonmel behind Lidl, which if permitted will eventually bring 99 more houses to the area.

Planning permission for phase 1 of the development, for 27 houses and 18 apartments, was lodged with Tipperary County Council last week. Phase 2 is expected to be lodged in the coming weeks.

The development is planned for a 2.09 hectare site, which is currently in private ownership but the intention is for the developer, Ormonde Homes Ltd., to buy the land once planning permission is secured.

The houses will be mostly three-bedroom ones, while the apartments will be a mix of three, two, and one-bedroom residences.Nine of the units will be for social housing.

As a result of archaeological investigations, an ‘exclusion zone’ has been factored into the development design to prevent disturbing any associated historical materials or area.
