Businesses in Tipperary are being invited to tender for the sponsorship of five roundabouts in Clonmel for a period of five years, with a minimum bid of €5,000

Businesses in Tipperary are being invited to tender for the sponsorship of five roundabouts in Clonmel for a period of five years, with a minimum bid of €5,000.

The roundabouts in question are the Cahir Road Roundabout, Cashel Road Roundabout, the Fethard Road Roundabout, and the Burgargery Roundabout (beside Tesco), all on the N24. The Toberaheena Roundabout is also available for sponsorship.

Interested parties are asked to submit a bid, of at least €5,000 per roundabout, to the council. The sponsorship opportunity will go to the highest bidder; should two parties submit the same amount, the result will be decided by a draw. There will only be one business at each roundabout.

The Council say the benefits of the roundabout sponsorship are an “increased awareness to residents and visitors of your business name and presence in the local community; business name exposure for five years, 365 days of the year, 24 hours per day with thousands of vehicles passing through the roundabout each year.; and exclusivity with only one successful applicant per roundabout.”

Signs and their wording must be approved by the Council, and a maximum of three signs per roundabout are allowed. The Council say while they will install the signs, they remain the property of the company and furthermore, the signs themselves must be paid for by the successful company.

The sponsoring business are responsible for the care of signs that are damaged, vandalised, fade in appearance, or begin to ‘look untidy’ during the sponsorship period. Bids must be made by November 17th with details available via the Council’s website.
