South Tipperary Oireachtas members invited to meet with Uisce Éireann CEO

South Tipperary Oireachtas members have been invited to a briefing with Uisce Éireann CEO Niall Gleeson next week
South Tipperary Oireachtas members have been invited to a briefing in Leinster House by Uisce Éireann next Tuesday, November 3rd.
The members include TDs Michael Murphy, Seamus Healy, and Mattie McGrath as well as Senators Imelda Goldsboro and Garret Ahearn.
The meeting is framed as “opportunity for open discussion, enabling elected representatives to raise questions and share concerns on behalf of constituents”.
The meeting will be attended by Uisce Éireann CEO Niall Gleeson and Chief Operations Manager Eamon Gallen, as well members of Uisce Éireann’s operational and project teams to address any queries they may have.
The meeting comes against a backdrop of a litany of water issues across the region, including multiple and ongoing outages and Boil Water Notices in Tipperary Town and the Cahir region, as well as issues affecting parts of Clonmel.
A Do Not Consume notice also impacted over 11,000 customers supplied by the Ardfinnan water supply, which had now been lifted but those customers remain under a Boil Water Notice.
BONUS PAYMENTS
Earlier this month, Mr Gleeson has defended a €118,000 increase in his overall salary to €391,953 during a Dáil Public Accounts Committee meeting.
Mr Gleeson admitted that he was aware he was “well paid compared to many members of the public” as was the Chief Financial Officer: “that's the market we live in,”
At the same committe meeting, Uisce Éireann's Chief Financial Officer Chris McCarthy said his salary had risen by 3% but would not confirm what the figure actually was.
The CEO's salary is the only one which is on public record.
Almost all Uisce Éireann staff members received bonuses last year, with €17.59m paid out in 2025. Just 18 staff of approximately 3,200 did not receive bonuses.
The Public Accounts Committee heard that 97% of people eligible to receive bonuses at Uisce Éireann did so in 2025, amounting to €17.59m in bonuses paid out, compared to €13.36m in 2024.
Mr McCarthy said the bonus payments are a "tried and tested market potential that drives performance" and that despite some issues being raised the Commission of Regulation of Utilities has been "highly complimentary" of Uisce Éireann.
