Work that highlights the beauty of Irish trees, hedgerow or meadow plants

Lucy Moore is a Fethard-based textile artist whose practice is rooted in sustainability, biodiversity, and the use of local materials.

A graduate of the National College of Art and Design, she works primarily with naturally dyed textiles, often creating her own dyes from foraged plants.

Her work highlights the beauty and value of Irish trees, hedgerow, or meadow plants.

Lucy has facilitated workshops in natural dyeing and ink-making across Tipperary, including events such as Applefest and Culture Night. She has also worked with schools through the

Artist in Primary School scheme, using textiles as a way to engage young people with environmental themes.

Her work has received multiple awards, including recognition from the Design Crafts Council Ireland, as well as international design platforms.

Lucy will be facilitating a natural dye workshop in Fethard on October 3 from 10 to 4pm at the Convent Hall in Fethard.

The day will guide people through the steps needed to successfully dye wool for themselves.

In addition, Lucy will show participants how to create and tie a wool ‘hank’ from a ball, so that it will dye evenly without tangling.

Weather permitting, Lucy will take participants on a forage in the Clashawley river valley close by the workshop venue. People are asked to wear suitable clothes for the outdoors, and are welcome to bring a packed lunch for the lunch break.

With autumn fast approaching, it's a great time to gather leaves for dye, and use them to colour yarns beautifully.
