Judge increases unpaid €150 dumping fine to €1,000 in Tipperary

Tipperary County Council took two cases of unauthorised waste activities to court in June.

According to the September management report, one case taken to the High Court was put back for mention in October. 

The second was concluded and was for an unpaid €150 litter fine. 

The judge in that case fined the defendant €1,000 and awarded costs of €300 to Tipperary County Council and the Tipperary/Cahir/Cashel Municipal District.

According to the report 97 fixed penalty notices have been issued this year as of August 14.

165 households have been inspected with a compliance rate of 91%.
