Judge adjourns case of woman charged with dangerous driving causing man's death in Tipperary

Judge John O'Leary adjourned the case to April when it came before him at Clonmel District Court last week

The case of a 49-year-old -based woman charged with dangerous driving causing the death of a Carrick-on-Suir man in a traffic accident on the N24 near Kilsheelan, was adjourned until April when it came before Clonmel District Court again last week.

Natalya Maydan with an address at 73 Glenoaks Close, Clonmel made her second appearance appeared before Judge John O’Leary at Clonmel District Court on Tuesday, January 6.

She is charged with driving a vehicle in a manner that was dangerous to the public and caused the death of father-of-two Peter Mulcahy on the N24 at Ballynaraha, Kilsheelan on October 5, 2023.

Mr Mulcahy’s widow Louise was present in court with a group of relatives and friends for the short hearing.

Ms Maydan’s solicitor Eamonn Hayes said disclosure material, including a technical report, was provided to him over the Christmas holiday period and was in the process of being considered.

He applied for legal aid to be granted to allow the defence to instruct its own civil engineer.

Garda Sergeant Tom O’Brien said the prosecution had no objection to the application.

Judge O’Leary granted Mr Hayes’ legal aid application and remanded Ms Maydan on continuing bail to appear before Clonmel District Court on April 21 for service of the Book of Evidence.
