BREAKING: Youth to appear in court in relation to fatal Tipperary assault on man (30s)

Victim died in hospital weeks after sustaining life-threatening injuries in Newport attack

Gardaí attended the scene of a fatal assault that occurred in the Castlecranna area of Newport, Co Tipperary, on 10 March 2025.

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital at the time with life-threatening injuries. He remained under medical care before passing away in hospital on the morning of 25 April 2025.

As part of the ongoing investigation, a male youth was arrested in connection with the incident on Wednesday morning, 1 April 2026.

He has since been charged and is due to appear before Tipperary Town District Court, sitting in Thurles, later this morning.
