Tipperary Fine Gael Senator Garret Ahearn was re-elected to Seanad Éireann this afternoon.
The senator from Grange near Clonmel has secured one of the seven Administrative Panel seats in the election.
He was one of the first three Senators elected in the Administrative Panel count.
Senator Ahearn is son of the the late Theresa Ahearn, who was a Fine Gael TD for South Tipperary from 1989 until 2000.
He was first elected to the Seanad in April, 2020 two months after contesting the February 2020 General Election as a Fine Gael candidate in the former all county Tipperary constituency.

Meanwhile, Independent Clonmel Cllr Richie Molloy was eliminated on the 12th count in the Administrative Panel contest in the Seanad election after a strong performance.
Cllr Molloy, who has served three terms as Mayor of Clonmel, was nominated to run in the Seanad election by Family Carers Ireland which was a nominating body for candidates for the first time. He is an area manager for Family Carers Ireland and has worked with the organisation for over 25 years.
