BREAKING: Tipperary-born man seeks nominations in the next presidential election

Nick Delehanty, who grew up on a farm in Tipperary, has said online that he intends to get on the ballot of the next election in the coming months.

A Tipperary-born lawyer has shared that he intends to seek nominations to run for President in the Irish presidential election which will take place later this year.

Nick Delehanty, who grew up on a farm in Tipperary, now lives in Dublin with his family.

Delehanty ran in the previous General Election last year, running in the Dublin Bay South constituency and received a total of 2,272 votes before being eliminated in the seventh count.

Delehanty said this week he intends to run for the presidential election and he outlined why in a short social media post. 

"Since no one else seems to want the job. I’m seeking nominations to run for President. Here are my credentials: I’m 35 &
I don’t own a house" said Delehanty.

In a follow-up post however, Delehanty claimed he was very serious about running in this next election.

"The reaction online to my announcement to run for the Áras has been overwhelmingly positive. I wasn't expecting it.

"There can be no doubting now that I am 100% serious about this.

"Getting on the ballot is going to be tough.... but your tangible support really helps. In fact, its sooo important.

"A practical way to support right now, would be writing to your local TD, Senator or councillors. Grass roots.

"I will be doing the same" he concluded.
