STALEMATE: Major confusion over vote count as Jim Ryan deliberates recount in North Tipperary

Follow all the results, reaction and analysis from the Count Centre here in Thurles as Tipperary South and Tipperary North votes are counted to elect three TDs in each constituency for the 2024 General Election

Jim Ryan

We are at a stalemate here in Thurles as Jim Ryan and Michael Smith's teams continue to deliberate over votes following the handing out of Phyll Bugler's votes after her elimination.

Smith ended the ninth count with 6,369 votes, while Jim Ryan ended it on 6,362, however a recount of Bugler's votes saw their numbers even out.

After the ninth count Ryan O'Meara was 1,412 votes ahead of the next competitor in Smith so it seems very unlikely that he can be caught at this stage.

It's looking like Bugler's votes will be counted again, at which point hopefully a leader of the two will become more clear.
