One moment right before throw-in sums up Cashel's Harty Cup victory

Incredible!

The 46!

Cashel Community School made history last Sunday with their one-point victory over Thurles CBS in the Harty Cup final in Semple Stadium.

Manager, Brendan Ryan, paid tribute to his team, management and the school community at the homecoming for the players in the school on Sunday evening.

He gave special mention to the fact that Cashel has a panel of 46 players and some of those couldn't play this year due to injury.

One of those players, was 18-year-old Joey Davis from Cashel King Cormacs.

Brendan revealed at the homecoming that in spite of his injury, Joey Davis was the last person to speak to the Cashel players right before the ball was thrown in in the Harty Cup decider.

He said Joey was out for the year with an injury, and Brendan added that the young man could have sulked, could have wished that Cashel wouldn't go far in the competition, but he didn't.

He was right there with his teammates, helping them in anyway he could, Brendan remarked.

I'm told what he said left every player ready to go out and put their lives on the line to win the game. I'm told it sent shivers down the spine of all the players.

There's no need to reveal what was said, it only matters that Joey said it and what a remarkable and selfless young man he is!

But that's why this week's front page of The Nationalist is dedicated to "The 46".

Because 46 players contributed to Cashel Community School winning the Harty Cup for the first time ever.

And 46 names will go down in history as Harty Cup winners.
