An intoxicated Tipperary man was "incoherent" and "didn't know where he was", Nenagh District Court was told.

John Greene of Kilcommon, Thurles, pleaded guilty to being intoxicated in public at Rearcross on February 14, 2023.

The court heard that Mr Greene had been "hitting off cars" in the area on the night in question.

When he was approached by gardaí he was unable to tell them where he was and there was evidence of alcohol having being consumed.

The garda found a vodka bottle and cans of beer in Mr Greene's van, the court heard.

They had had only been able to establish his identity from his driving licence which they found in his van. 

The gardaí discovered which was Mr Greene's vehicle after local witnesses pointed it out to them, the court heard.

Judge Elizabeth MacGrath fined Mr Greene €250 for being intoxicated in pubic.

Recognizances in the event of an appeal were set in his own bond of €250.
