Tipperary driver stopped by gardaí was found with amphetamines in glove compartment
A motorist stopped by the gardaí and who began to act in a suspicious manner was found to be in possession of amphetamines, Nenagh District Court was told.
John O’Donovan of 3 Harty Place, Toomevara, pleaded to possession of the drug at Couraganeen, Roscrea, on April 30, 2022. Teh court heard that the drug, which had a street value of €20 and which was found in the car’s glove compartment, was for Mr O’Donovan’s own personal use.
The court heard he had two previous convictions for similar offences.
Mr O’Donovan’s solicitor, David Peters, told the court that his client had developed an addiction around the period and that all three cases had now come before the courts.
Judge Elizabeth MacGrath pointed out that this was Mr O’Donovan’s third conviction and it came with a gap of just a number of months.
Mr Peters said that his client was dealing with his issues.
Judge MacGrath ordered Mr O’Donovan to pay €200 to the court poor box before June 22, saying if that were done she would strike out the charge.
