The public is invited to find out more about the wide range of  courses available at Carrick-on-Suir’s Further Education & Training (FET) Centre at an open morning next Tuesday, May 23.

Tipperary ETB learner, Melissa Power, has undertaken community education courses at tbe FET Centre, including cookery, computer skills, arts and crafts.  She is delighted with the variety of courses available in her hometown and enjoys the social side of the courses.

“I’ve had a lot of fun meeting new people at classes, and this has also greatly improved my self-esteem. The courses I attend give me something to look forward to each week and I am hoping to do a lot more of them,” she said.

Carrick-on-Suir FET Centre Manager Fiona Hennessy is encouraging people to come to the open day  and see the education opportunities  available locally.

“Our FET Centre is a hub of education for all, where everyone feels a sense of belonging and acceptance.

“We focus on the learner as an individual and encourage everyone to learn at their own pace, providing the opportunity to learn new skills, acquire knowledge, and for students to develop themselves personally and professionally.

“We are proud of the links we have established with higher education institutes, and we work closely with local employers and the community to ensure  the focus of our FET provision meets local needs.”
