Cllr Seamus Morris is calling for horses to be impounded when they are left on others' land without permission.
A “Transient Group” finally moved out of a site it shouldn’t have been in, a local councillor told the May meeting of Nenagh Municipal District.
Cllr John Carroll said there was “a large influx of caravans and other vehicles, belonging to a transient group, into Streame Business Park in Nenagh, which caused great upset among locals. There were about 40 vehicles, some of them large and state of the art".
"They showed no regard whatsoever for the residential or the business community. It took a lot of persuasion to get them to move out, which they finally did this week.”
Cllr Seamus Morris pointed out that he has heard of incidents where transient groups are parking on the land of semi-state companies “and the semi-state companies have paid them to leave. That’s a waste of taxpayers’ money. It’s also a big health & safety issue, because there are no toilets at these places. We got so many calls about the Stereame incident. Horses are also being left on land without permission. We should impound those horses".
