CASH RETURNS AND IT WAS ‘ABSOLUTELY MIGHTY'


The Johnny Cash & Friends Show (Cash Returns) took place on Friday night last at St Paul’s Community Centre, Clogheen and it was described as “Absolutely Mighty” afterwards by one totally besotted young Clogheen lady.


Organised by the Rhododendron Walking Festival committee, the show which had been completely sold out well in advance proved to be a great night’s entertainment and a huge lift to everyone’s form and spirit who attended.


The late Johnny Cash himself visited Ireland in 1959 and while touring through county Tipperary, he visited the magnificent Vee Pass just outside Clogheen at the foot of the Knockmealdown mountains. What he saw just blew his mind.


A few years later in 1963 the famous ‘Man in Black’ wrote a song that was influenced by what he saw in Tipperary four years previous and that song was his favourite and was called “Forty shades of Green.”
