Investigation launched as huge amount of drugs destined for Tipperary seized at airport

INVESTIGATIONS are underway after Revenue officers seized over €100,000 worth of cannabis at Shannon Airport.

As a result of risk profiling and with the assistance of detector dog Harley, Revenue officers seized 7kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €140,000 last Thursday, July 13.

The illicit drugs were discovered in a parcel which had originated from the Czech Republic and were destined for an address in Tipperary.

Gardai in Shannon have been informed and investigations into the seizure are ongoing.

The seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing work targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity.
