PET RESCUE: Welcome to Mo Chara Animal Rescue in Tipperary

PET RESCUE: Welcome to Mo Chara Animal Rescue in Tipperary

British Bulldog Nancy is looking for her forever home

Mo Chara Animal Rescue is a Thurles-based volunteer run registered charity.

We have been in operation for 13 years, rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming many of the counties abandoned dogs and cats.

Our kennel facility is based in Moyne and has the capacity to hold up to 50 dogs. The cattery is based just outside the town and has the capacity to hold up to 20 cats.

Both facilities are constantly full. We do our best to try to accommodate as many animals as possible. Summer is especially busy in the cattery as it is kitten season.

A female can cat become sexually mature at approximately 16 weeks of age. She can produce four/five litters in a season with anything from two to eight kittens in a litter.

Neutering your animals is so important. This is something we will touch on in one of our future articles.

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on the number of stray and unwanted dogs.

Many people acquired a dog in the lock down. Now we are back to normality, they find they no longer have time for these dogs.

This has driven the numbers through the roof, and throughout Ireland rescues are full, and there are very few homes out there!

In each of our future articles, we will also be featuring our animals available for adoption.

We will also be sharing lots of helpful information on animal health and welfare. If you have any topics you wish to see featured, please email us mocharaanimalrescue@live.ie.

If you are currently looking for a dog or cat to join your family, you can visit our Facebook page for an adoption application or email us on the above email address.

Nancy Noodles

Nancy, pictured above, is a fabulous young, energetic British Bulldog mix.

She is approximately 18 months old. She was found straying in a local towns land, emaciated and with a horrific injury to her front leg. She has fully recovered and is now searching for her forever home.

Nancy will require an active family who will be prepared to continue with her training.

If you can offer Nancy a home, please call 087 6576022.
