September 25 saw the culmination of generations of work to deliver state of the art facilities to Templemore and the surrounding areas.

Students finally gained access to the new building which is the final piece of the school facilities development and completes a campus that caters for all students and families in the wider Templemore community. Our Lady’s was formed in 1985 with the amalgamation of Scoil Mhuire, run by the Mercy sisters, and the Christian Brothers post primary school.

The founders couldn’t have envisaged back then that it would take almost 40 years to complete the campus.

Work on the development was initiated by Dr Jim O’Shea, Principal in 2001, taken up in 2004 and delivered over 18 years by then Principal, Ms Patricia Higgins.

Commenting on the latest development, current Principal, Mr Paul Fogarty said: "This final phase of the development has delivered accommodation for two AS classes including a multi-sensory room and sensory garden, seven new classrooms, Guidance Suite and pastoral offices and Toilet facilities.

"The extension has also allowed the Board of Management to deliver a fully illuminated Astro and Ballwall for the school community. We are fortunate to be able to provide a Prayer Space, Gym and multiple recreational and social spaces for our students at Our Lady’s.

“However, Our Lady’s Templemore is much more than just a state of the art building. The school’s culture, which has been developed and nurtured over the years, places the students at all times at the centre of all decisions.

"Whether it is in Maths or Science class, on the stage or on the hurling field, the care and potential of each student is nourished and developed.

"This new facility will allow Our Lady’s to continue to strive for excellence and serve the communities in Templemore and surrounding areas.”
