Mayor of Clonmel Cllr Richie Molloy visited Loreto Secondary School to present daffodil bulbs as part of an Irish Cancer Society campaign
The Mayor of Clonmel Cllr Richie Molloy presented daffodil bulbs to a number of schools in Clonmel as part of a project to raise money for the Irish Cancer Society.
The Mayor paid tribute to Independent Senator Sharon Keogan for sponsoring the bulbs and said it was a wonderful initiative of Senator Keogan and one that is been replicated across Ireland with a number of independent councillors associated with Senator Keogan.
The Mayor said he was very impressed with the enthusiasm of both pupils and staff in the schools for the project and looks forward to the spring when the he would visit the schools again to help organise the selling of the daffodils with all proceeds going to the Irish Cancer Society.
The Mayor, from his involvement with Family Carers Ireland, said he was very conscious of how many families are affected with cancer and the huge need for investment in providing home respite and this project which is in its second year is an excellent way of creating awareness and funding .
