Certificates for completing business administration and employment skills courses at Carrick-on-Suir Further Education & Training Centre were presented to a group of students at a graduation ceremony hosted by the college at the town’s Carraig Hotel on November 20.
Students were presented with their awards for successfully completing Level 5 Business Administration Studies and Level 4 Employment Skills.
Awards were also presented to a number of second year students who have completed components of the Level 4 Employment Skills course.
The students accompanied by their proud families, were welcomed to the ceremony by Carrick FET Centre Manager and Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme (VTOS) Co-ordinator Fiona Hennessy.
Tipperary Education & Training Board Adult Education Officer Olivia Kennedy-Murphy spoke at the event of the great pride they had in celebrating the students’ achievements.
“The programme you embarked on is more than a structured curriculum; it is a dynamic platform that empowers individuals to take control of their destinies, to shape their futures and to redefine what is possible,” she said.
“In Tipperary ETB we strive to provide education and training opportunities that empower individuals to reach their full potential. We offer courses that cater to diverse needs and aspirations and it is heart-warming to see so many success stories here this evening.”
Olivia paid tribute to Fiona Hennessy and remarkable educators and support staff of Carrick-on-Suir Further Education and Training Centre , who have been the guiding lights on this educational journey.
“Your passion for teaching, commitment to excellence and belief in the potential of each student have laid the foundation for success.”
Olivia and Fiona also thanked the families and friends in attendance for the support and encouragement they gave the graduates during their educational journey.
Testimonials were given by graduates, William O’Neill and Ashar Anwar.
William spoke of how his return to education had ‘woken up his brain again’. He pointed out that he is using 99% of the skills he learned on the course daily in his current full-time job. He thanked all his teachers for helping him on his journey.
Ashar also paid tribute to the teachers, his family and friends. He said it was a ‘well blended course’ combined with technology and he sincerely thanked his teachers and fellow students who helped and inspired him.
He added that most of his past experience in education was through textbooks and writing but with the help and direction he received he was able to connect and work through the computer.
Ashar has now completed Level 7 at UCD Institute of Bankers, which he credits to the support of his wonderful teachers during his time at Carrick FET Centre.
Fiona congratulated all the graduates on their great achievements. She praised the college’s dedicated teachers and all the staff who collectively work to ensure administration and the care of the building are kept to the highest standards.
Fiona also thanked Paul Norris and his staff of the Carraig Hotel for providing the venue for the ceremony. Sixteen students graduated on the night and 5 were unable to attend. They were wished every success in the future.
