Boil Water Notice has affected 4,000 Uisce Éireann customers in Tipperary

Uisce Éireann says it's working to implement solutions to lift the notice as quickly and as safely as possible

Uisce Éireann has issued a Boil Water Notice to protect the health of approximately 4,000 customers supplied by the Glenary Public Water Supply in Clonmel.

This notice is being issued to protect the health of customers due to disinfection issues at the water treatment plant, and which have affected the disinfection process. Unchlorinated water has entered the system.

The Boil Water Notice does not affect the entire Glenary Public Water Supply Scheme. The reservoir supplying the centre of Clonmel town has not been affected. Areas impacted include Glenary, Abbey Road, Glenconnor Road, Gortmalogue, Gurtnafleur, Cashel Road, Moangarriff, Glenalemy and surrounding areas. The Kilcomma/Finger Post areas in county Waterford are also affected.

Customers can check if their property is included by visiting the Water Quality section of www.water.ie and entering the property’s Eircode or by calling the Uisce Éireann’s customer care helpline, which is open 24/7, on 1800 278 278. A map of the area is available to view on the supply and service section of water.ie

Uisce Éireann says it's primary focus is and always will be the protection of public health. Drinking water experts from Uisce Éireann are working to implement solutions to lift the notice as quickly and as safely as possible. In the meantime, all customers impacted are advised to boil and cool their water before use until further notice.

Colin Cunningham, Uisce Éireann, regrets the inconvenience to impacted customers, adding, “Public health is Uisce Éireann's number one priority and we would like to assure customers that the notice has been put in place to protect public health.

"We acknowledge the inconvenience caused to homes and businesses and would like to assure customers that we are working to resolve the issue and lift the notice as quickly and as safely as possible”.
