New Explore Carrick-on-Suir website promotes tourist attractions in ' fun family-friendly way'

The newly launched Explore Carrick-on-Suir tourism initiative has set up a website promoting the historic, cultural and scenic sites of Carrick and its hinterland.

Carrick-on-Suir Commercial & Tourism Manager Sarah Jane Cleary told the tourism brand’s launch at Ormond Castle on August 17 that one of the highlights of the explore carrickonsuir.com website is a Quest Map showing the history, heritage and natural attractions of the town and its surrounding communities in counties Waterford, Kilkenny and Tipperary in a “fun family-friendly way”.

“We’re starting with a beautifully designed tourist map and we’re planning to roll out an interactive digital version soon letting visitors create their own custom quests across the three counties,” she explained.

Ms Cleary also announced that in October, Explore Carrick-on-Suir will launch the “Journey of an Idea” enterprise competition for students of Carrick’s Scoil Mhuire, Comeragh College and Edmund Rice secondary schools.

The competition will be run in conjunction with Tipperary Local Enterprise Office and will boast a €5,000 prize fund.

Ms Cleary said Explore Carrick-on-Suir has committed to running the competition for five years.

Also in the coming academic year, she said Tipperary Education & Training Board will run its Tour Guiding course at Carrick-on-Suir’s Further Education & Training Centre for the first time.
