Locals have their say at public consultation day for new bridge designs for village in Tipperary

Locals in Ardfinnan were recently invited by Arup and Partners LTD and Tipperary County Council to see proposed plans for phase three of the Ardfinnan pedestrian and cycle bridge and have their say on the preliminary design so far.

The public consultation day was held in Ardfinnan Community Centre on December 19.

The aim of this public consultation was to gather information from the public about their experiences using the current bridge, and also to ask locals what their views are on the preferred option for the design of the new bridge.

Local Ardfinnan based Fianna Fáil Cllr Micheál Anglim was there on the day to support phase three of the bridge.

“The walkway bridge is really needed in Ardfinnan. As we’re standing here and looking at it we can see why it's a safety issue. Not just at school time but all day every day. As I said on the radio the other day we’re getting out the gap at the minute that nobody has been hurt or injured. This walkway bridge is what we’ve been fighting for, for ten years and now thankfully we’re here for the consultation day and the design is looking mighty” said Anglim.
