Tipperary’s brightest young entrepreneurs will battle it out at an event to be held in Thurles next week.

The Student Enterprise Programme county final will take place next Friday (March 7), where students from across county Tipperary will get to showcase their innovative business ideas.

Held in association with LEO Tipperary, the competition attracted significant interest this year, with over 2,200 Tipperary students entering from 27 schools across the county.

Winners from the Tipperary county final will then go on to represent the county at the national final in May.

Student enterprise coordinator, Tina Mulhearne says that the competition helps students to develop important business skills.

“The programme helps students develop essential business skills such as business planning, market research, selling and teamwork, preparing them for future entrepreneurial endeavours.

“By providing these experiences and skills, the Student Enterprise Programme significantly enhances students' preparedness for future careers, whether as entrepreneurs or in other professional roles,” Ms Mulhearne said.

The competition also emphasises support for the local economy, with awards produced in Cahir, printing services sourced in Clonmel and Cashel, and winners will be given Love Tipperary gift cards to promote and support over 160 local businesses.

Anthony Fitzgerald, Head of Enterprise at LEO Tipperary, said that "the Student Enterprise Programme is a cornerstone in developing the next generation of Tipperary entrepreneurs. By providing students with real-world business experience and connecting them with local enterprises, we are investing in the future of our county's economy."

The Tipperary final of the Student Enterprise Progamme takes place at TUS Thurles on March 7.
