PICTURES: Sunshine, smiles and celebrations as 120 new gardaí graduate in Tipperary

There were proud scenes and emotional moments at the Garda College in Tipperary as 120 new gardaí from across Ireland and beyond officially graduated and were sworn in as members of An Garda Síochána on Friday morning.

Family, friends and loved ones gathered under sunny skies in Templemore to mark the occasion, celebrating the newest wave of Garda graduates as they stepped forward to take up their roles in communities across Ireland.

The ceremony marks a major milestone for the probationers, who began their training in September 2024 and have completed a rigorous programme of blended learning, including online study, in-college tuition, and time in Garda stations nationwide.

The newly attested gardaí will now be deployed to stations across the Dublin, Eastern, Southern and North Western regions. Among the class are 22 recruits who were born outside the State, bringing international experience and backgrounds from countries including India, Spain, Brazil, Poland, and Northern Ireland.

Speaking at the ceremony, Garda Commissioner Drew Harris congratulated the graduates and reminded them of the importance of their oath to serve with fairness, integrity and respect. He also paid tribute to the late Garda Kevin Flatley, who died while on duty last month, saying his service was “the epitome of what it takes to be a Garda.”
