The Gleann Glas Playground in Roscrea, a popular local amenity, has been closed indefinitely after suffering an act of vandalism. Tipperary County Council confirmed that the closure is necessary to carry out repairs, describing the situation as both “necessary and regrettable.”

Shane Lee, councillor for the Roscrea area, cautioned that reopening could be delayed. “Given the limited budget available for playgrounds, repairs of this nature may take some time,” he said.
Details of the damage have not been disclosed, though the council expressed regret for any disruption caused to families and residents who rely on the facility.
The closure underscores the ongoing challenges local authorities face in maintaining public amenities amid constrained resources, particularly when unexpected incidents arise.
