New committee takes charge of Cashel Chamber of Commerce following recent AGM

Team pledges to rebuild the Chamber, engage local businesses, and deliver the 2025 Christmas Lights event

New committee takes charge of Cashel Chamber of Commerce following recent AGM

Cashel’s business community is preparing for renewal following the election of a new leadership team at the Cashel Chamber of Commerce. The board was appointed at the Chamber’s AGM on November 4th and has pledged to rebuild the organisation and restore its role at the centre of local commercial life.

Gavin O’Dowd has been elected President, with Niall Gregory as Secretary, Alice Feery as Treasurer, and Piero Morelli as PRO. In a statement released on its Facebook page, the Chamber said it had spent the past week reconnecting with businesses, community groups, clubs, and organisations throughout the town. The feedback, it noted, was unambiguous. “Cashel wants a Chamber that is active, visible, and working for the town.”

The new committee has set out a short term plan that includes rebuilding the Chamber’s internal structure, engaging directly with local businesses to understand their priorities, and working with local clubs and groups to help bring activity back into the town. It has also committed to working with Tipperary County Council to examine what funding, grants, and schemes might be available to support events. The Chamber has identified the Christmas Lights Turn On for 2025 as its first major undertaking. The event, it said, is an early chance to demonstrate what a “renewed, motivated, community focused Chamber can achieve.”

Local councillor Liam Browne welcomed the new leadership, offering his support in a message posted on his Facebook page. “Congratulations to President Gavin O’Dowd, Secretary Niall Gregory, Treasurer Alice Feery, and PRO Piero Morelli on taking the reins and committing to rebuild and strengthen the Chamber for the benefit of our town,” he wrote. Councillor Browne said Cashel urgently needs strong local leadership and he pledged to work closely with the Chamber to promote business, attract investment, and generate opportunities for growth.

He added that he would seek to encourage collaboration between the Chamber, community groups, and Tipperary County Council, while also engaging with national bodies to ensure the town receives the support and resources it requires. “This is an exciting new chapter for Cashel,” he said. “Let’s work together to make our town vibrant, prosperous, and full of opportunity. Here’s to a bright future for Cashel, stronger together.”

The Chamber has invited local businesses, clubs, and community groups to get involved or stay informed by contacting it directly. Its message to the town was succinct. “Cashel is building again. Let’s do it together.”
