Cashel Choral and Dramatic Society completed a well received four night run of Jimmy’s Hall at Brú Ború
Cashel Choral and Dramatic Society completed a well received four night run of Jimmy’s Hall at Brú Ború, attracting large audiences from November 20 to 23.
The production, inspired by Ken Loach’s film about Jimmy Gralton and his campaign for freedom, culture, and community life in 1930s Ireland, marked another confident showing for the long established local group.

The Society reported a particularly energetic opening night. In a statement following the first performance, the Cashel Choral Society said: “What an opening night and what an audience! We are so grateful to you for coming out on this cold night.
We were more than warmed by your standing ovation. Three more chances to see our show in Brú Ború. Get your tickets now!”
Ahead of the run, Cllr Liam Browne offered his support to the cast and crew as they prepared for the stage. “Best of Luck to Cashel Choral & Dramatic Society. Wishing the very best to everyone involved in ‘Jimmy’s Hall’ as they take to the stage at Brú Ború, Cashel over the coming days.
This powerful production, based on Ken Loach’s acclaimed film, tells the inspiring story of Jimmy Gralton and his fight for freedom, music, and community spirit in 1930s Ireland.”
Tickets were available online through Brú Ború, by phone, and in person at O’Dwyer’s Pharmacy on Main Street, with standard admission priced at 20 euro and concessions at 15 euro for seniors and students on the Thursday performance.
The staging also formed part of the Society’s celebrations of its ninety year tradition in local drama, music, and dance. As Cllr Browne noted in his message of support, “Let’s pack the house and show our support.”
