The Cahir native, who trains out of SBG Ireland, faced Slovakian Martin Buday in the main event at OKTAGON 81 in Prague, in front of nearly 20,000 fans.
Buday, a former UFC fighter with a 16-2 record, was widely regarded as one of the most accomplished opponents Fleury had faced.
But Fleury wasted no time asserting his dominance. The reigning heavyweight champion tore through Buday, securing a technical knockout in just 100 seconds.
It was a lightning-fast finish that underscored Fleury’s growing reputation as one of Europe’s premier heavyweights and marked the biggest win of his career.
The result also highlighted Fleury’s composure and power in the cage, leaving little doubt about his credentials at the top of the OKTAGON division.
For the Tipperary fighter from Cahir, the victory was not just a title defence, but a statement of intent to the wider MMA world.
Buday, who had previously left the UFC after a 7-1 run, returned to OKTAGON with high expectations, but Fleury’s performance proved decisive and emphatic, further cementing his status as a hometown hero in Irish MMA circles.
