Residents of Tipperary town will face temporary water restrictions to allow Uisce Éireann to carry out further leak detection work in the area.

The restrictions follow the recent discovery and repair of a major leak in the town, which was losing an estimated 144,000 litres of water each day.

This volume is sufficient to supply almost 1,100 people daily, roughly equivalent to the combined average daily water usage of the villages of Monard, Golden, Bansha, and Donaskeigh.

Water restrictions will be in place from 10pm on Tuesday night until 6am on Wednesday morning.

The work forms part of ongoing efforts to identify and address leaks in the local water network, aiming to reduce water losses and ensure the supply meets local demand. Residents are advised to plan accordingly during the restricted hours.

In addition to the leak detection work, Uisce Éireann will carry out mains water repairs in Tipperary town on Thursday. The works will affect customers in the Aherlow Meadows Estate, Knockanrawley, and surrounding areas of East Tipperary town. Repairs are scheduled to begin at 10am and are expected to conclude by 3pm.

The company notes that water supply may take a further three to four hours to return to normal once the repairs are completed. Customers can contact the Uisce Éireann Customer Care Team on 1 800 278 278.

A free text notification service for outages is also available for customers who register their Eircode and mobile number on the water.ie website.
