The event will explore the experiences of local residents who contributed to the war effort, offering a rare insight into a period often overshadowed in Irish historical memory.

The presentation will be led by Paul Buckley, with contributions from Lauren Murphy. Together, they will delve into the personal stories of men and women from Cahir and the surrounding area who played their part during the Second World War, highlighting both military service and the impact on life at home.

The talk will take place at the Cahir House Hotel on Thursday, February 26th, beginning at 8:00pm. Admission is €7 for guests, €5 for society members, and free for students, making the event accessible to a wide audience.

The society encourages anyone with an interest in local history, military heritage, or community stories to attend. By bringing these accounts to the fore, the event seeks to ensure that the contributions of Cahir’s residents during a global conflict are not forgotten.

It promises an engaging evening of reflection, education, and remembrance, underlining the role that local narratives play in shaping a community’s understanding of its past.
