Irish Water to begin €800,000 Tipperary town project this week

Irish Water will this week begin a project to upgrade a 1.5km section of water mains in Tipperary Town, leading to significant improvements in the quality and reliability of water supply for local customers.

This project, which represents an investment of €800,000, is being carried out by Irish Water in partnership with Tipperary County Council and Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII). The work will comprise the replacement of old water mains in the Davitt Street area, along with service connections to homes and businesses in the area. This will result in fewer disruptions for customers due to burst pipes and other outages associated with the aging water supply infrastructure.

Construction work is being carried out by Glan Agua Ltd on behalf of Irish Water and is expected take approximately 4 months to complete.

David Sharry, Irish Water’s Capital Programmes Regional Lead, commented: “This investment of €800,000 to replace these problematic sections of water main in Tipperary town will lead to a major improvement in the security and reliability of water supply for our customers in the area.

As part of the project in Tipperary town, the old lead service connections to approximately 80 properties will also be replaced.
