Teenager appears in Tipperary district court on assault charge

A seventeen year old youth appeared before Tipperary district court today (Wednesday 22nd November) charged with assaulting and harming a fourteen year old boy in Tipperary Town.
The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons as he is a juvenile, was remanded in custody to appear before Tipperary district court on Monday December 11th.
He is charged with assaulting and harming the 14 year boy in Tipperary Town on Thursday night, November 9th.
In court today Sgt Cathal Godfrey told Judge Bernadette Owens that he was awaiting directions from the DPP which may take a considerable time to arrive.
The defendant was represented by Aiden Leahy, solicitor, who said a psychological report was awaited and he had no objection to the matter being adjourned to Tipperary Town on December 11th.
