The HSE has issued a warning after a person called to a house in South Tipperary claiming to be a nurse.
The matter has been brought to the attention of the gardai and the HSE has warned householders to be extra vigilant and stated that public health nurses , or anyone else on behalf of the HSE, will only call to a home when an advance arrangement has been made.
The HSE said that all representatives of the HSE also carry identification and they were reminding the public of these facts in light of concerns made known to the organisation in recent days regarding an unexpected caller to a house in the South Tipperary area reportedly claiming to be a nurse.
The HSE has advised that in the event of any doubts, callers to houses should be asked to present their valid HSE ID and that any concerns should be reported to the Gárdai. Vulnerable and older persons are advised to ensure that their personal alarm devices are working and are worn at all times. Family members are also advised to assist in checking that such personal safety devices are functioning.
