Dundrum bomb scare - Update

Explosive Ordnance Disposal - Army bomb disposal unit

Investigations are ongoing following a security alert in Dundrum village last night (Monday).

A security cordon was put in place by Gardaí following the discovery of a suspect device in a field at Beechgrove, Dundrum, Co. Tipperary on Monday, April 2.

The alarm was raised at 6.40pm and Defence Forces EOD (bomb disposal unit) we called to the scene. The area was made safe and cordon lifted at 11pm.

The device was removed from a field behind the Beechgrove houses for further examination.

A number of homes were evacuated during the alert but residents returned to their homes about 11pm last night. 

A spokesman for Tipperary Garda Station said investigations are ongoing into the incident and they are awaiting further information today  in relation to the nature of the device from Defence Forces bomb disposal unit.
