Regina, Ballyphilip, Nenagh, died peacefully and unexpectedly, surrounded by her family, at the Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore, on January 20, 2026.

Ms O’Dwyer ran the Lakeside creche for 32 years, during which time hundreds of local children began their educational journey in her care.

In a statement, The Lakeside Hotel & Leisure Centre said it was “deeply saddened” to learn of her passing, describing Regina as “one of the most kind, patient, and gentle people” they had known.

The hotel said her calm and nurturing presence meant a great deal to both children and parents, and that her contribution to the wider community was “lasting and profound”.

Regina stepped away from her role last year due to ill health, bringing an end to what the hotel described as the "end of an era" at The Lakeside.

Regina will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sisters Imelda (Spillane) and Bernie (Boland), brother Mark Cecil, brothers-in-law Michael and Andrew, her adored nieces and nephews Aisling, Drew, Liobhán, Jack, Sean and Danielle, cousins, relatives, neighbours and good friends.

“She was a caring soul and we were so privileged to work with her,” the hotel statement said.
