Thurles' Dublin road a 'disgrace' - Cllr Jim Ryan

Thurles Independent Councillor Jim Ryan has this week called on both Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) and Tipperary County Council to carry out a proper resurfacing job on the road from the entrance of the Anner Hotel as far as the Mill Road Roundabout.

“I have been contacted by a large number of road users who are extremely frustrated at the current poor state of the road. It is full of large potholes and recent patching and temporary repairs of the road by the council has made little difference.

“I have raised this issue with the roads engineer and he has confirmed that officials from Transport Infrastructure Ireland had visited Thurles recently and they looked at this particular stretch of road and they agreed that something has to be done. I have been raising this issue now for some time and in my opinion it’s a disgrace to leave this road the way that it currently is.

“The Roads Engineer, in fairness, has agreed that the road is in a bad state and I am confident that he realises that it has to become a priority. The road is extremely bad and continuous patching of it is only a temporary measure and what is needed is a proper resurfacing job,” Cllr Ryan said.
