Tipperary is one of the hottest locations in Ireland today!
County Tipperary is one of the hottest places in Ireland today - and the heatwave is only beginning.
Met Eireann released figures for several of it's monitoring stations at lunchtime today, Monday, and they say only one spot in Ireland beats the heat in Tipperary!
The monitoring station at Gurteen, near Mullinahone, saw the thermometer hit 25 degrees at lunchtime! Only Oak Park in Carlow was higher - at 26 degrees.
Temperatures are predicted to keep growing this week. According to Boyle Sports punters are now backing the all-time temperature record to be broken this week!
Forecasters have predicted that record breaking temperatures will be within reach during the week ahead, with one Met Éireann report suggesting that thermometers could register figures in the low 30s. The previous record of 33.3°C was clocked at Kilkenny Castle in 1887.
BoyleSports were forced to slash the odds to 8/1 on that record high being confined to history before the end of June after punters snapped up the 14/1 as they woke up to sweltering heat on Monday morning.
