South Tipperary General Hospital has the third the highest number of patients on trolleys in corridors or wards today (Wednesday) out of all the country's major hospitals, according to the Irish Nurses & Midwives Organisation's daily Trolley Watch report.
Overcrowding at the Clonmel hospital has resulted in 32 patients being accommodated on trolleys while they await beds.
The only hospitals in the country with higher numbers of patients on trolleys are Cork University Hospital with 41 patients on trolleys and University Hospital Limerick with 40 patients on trolleys.
The Nationalist has contacted the INMO and HSE to find out why so many patients are waiting to be accommodated in hospital beds and is awaiting a response.
