Congratulations to Hollyford, County Tipperary, woman Nora Cooney who celebrated her 90th birthday at a party near Redditch, Birmingham earlier this month.

The Old Rectory Hotel, Ipsley was the idyllic venue where up to thirty guests, including four generations of Nora’s family, some relatives from Ireland and special friends including Fr. Seamus Hetherton, who is also based in Birmingham, helped her celebrate.

Among the guests who travelled from Ireland were Nora’s niece Dolores O’Shea from Portumna, Co. Galway; Timmy Ryan, her cousin and lifelong friend from Rossmore, Co. Tipperary; and also Dublin-based Denis Fahey who is originally from Toem, Cappawhite.

Hollyford native Brian McCrudden also made the short journey from where he lives in Redditch.

Nora, who is the last surviving member of Laurence and Bridget Loughman’s family of nine, has lived in Birmingham since 1951.
