Protest over plans to ban cars entering Clonmel cemetery takes place outside Tipperary Co. Council Civic Offices

Members of the Friends and Family of St Patrick's Cemetery Group protesting outside Tipperary Co. Council in Clonmel last Friday.

A protest over plans to ban cars accessing Clonmel's St Patrick's Cemetery is taking place outside Tipperary Co. Council's Civic Officers in Clonmel this morning ahead of the monthly meeting of the authority's elected representatives.

Members of the Friends and Family of St Patrick's Cemetery Group, who are opposed to the Council's plan, are staging the protest. They also protested outside the Civic Offices last Friday.

The Council has commenced construction of a car park adjacent to the cemetery and cars will be banned from the cemetery once it's opened.

The Friends and Family of St Patrick's Cemetery Group says banning the entry of cars into the cemetery will make it very difficult for people with limited mobility to access the graves of their loved ones.
