Monastery Close, Thurles which has been acquired by Thurles Lions Club
€3 million granted to Lions Club Trust for acquisition of 34 unit centre
The Board of Thurles Lions Trust Housing Association CLG welcome the announcement by Mr. Eoghan Murphy, Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government of very significant capital funding, in excess of €3 million, which will facilitate the proposed acquisition by them of Monastery Close, Thurles.
This development consists of 34 one and two bedroom housing units, together with on-site ancillary resident and community support facilities. The proposed acquisition will provide much needed additional housing accommodation for one and two-person households, in need of such accommodation, in the greater Thurles area.
The grant funding is being provided to Thurles Lions Trust Housing Association by the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government under the Capital Assistance Scheme (CAS). This scheme supports Approved Housing Bodies to provide social housing solutions for those in need of housing. In this regard, Thurles Lions Trust will now work closely with Tipperary County Council in moving to finalise the acquisition of the development and thereafter the allocation of the available housing units.
The Board of Thurles Lions Trust Housing Association are very appreciative of the tremendous support that has been provided to them by both Tipperary County Council and the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government in advancing this proposal.
