A District Court Judge has refused to approve bail to a 55 year-old man charged with sexually assaulting his adult daughter in Co. Tipperary two years ago.
Judge John King rejected the bail application at Cashel District Court last Thursday after hearing several grounds for objection submitted by the gardai.
The man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, is charged with sexually assaulting his daughter at a location in Co. Tipperary on August 14 and August 16, 2016.
A detective garda involved in the investigation told the court the Gardai were objecting to bail on the grounds that they are concerned the accused will re-offend and also interfere with the complainant if he is released on bail.

After hearing evidence from both the prosecution and the accused's defence solicitor, Judge King refused bail because he hadn't any confidence that the accused would stay away from the complainant and he feared he would interfere with her.
The Judge remanded the accused man in custody to appear before Cashel District Court on September 27 for the DPP to give its directions on the case.
