Tipperary athletics talent shines at Munster Juvenile Indoors

DAYS 1 AND 2


Days 1 and 2 of the Munster Juvenile Indoor Athletics Championships took place on February 25 and 26 at Nenagh.


Many county Tipperary clubs brought big numbers to what was effectively a home event and the results over the two days of competition were very much in line with previous years, with Tipperary clubs giving their very best in high quality competition.


Gold medals were secured by Daire O’Donnell, Nenagh Olympic AC in U17 Boys 800m, Cian Hodgins U19 boys 1500m, Cara Ryan, Clonmel AC U14 Girls High Jump and 60m hurdles, Donal Ryan, Templemore AC U13 Boys High Jump, Ava Rochford, Nenagh Olympic AC U19 Girls Pole Vault, Emma O’Neill, Carrick-on-Suir AC U19 Girls Long Jump, Joe Bourke, Templemore AC U16 Boys 200m, Christopher Diasonama, Nenagh Olympic AC U15 Boys 60m, Ronan Ryan, Nenagh Olympic AC U17 Boys 60m and Cian O’Donnell, Dualla Boherlahan Ballytarsna AC U12 boys 60m hurdles.


Silver medal winners were James Rochford Nenagh Olympic AC U16 Boys Pole vault, Clodagh Donohue Nenagh Olympic AC U17 Girls Long Jump, Lucy Fitzgerald Tipperary Town AC U18 Girls Long Jump, Emily Davidson Nenagh Olympic AC U18 Girls 60m, Aaron Dunford Templemore AC U17 boys 200m, Benjamin Deegan Nenagh Olympic AC U16 Boys 200m, Joe Bourke Templemore AC U16 Boys 60m, Stuart Tobin Nenagh Olympic AC U17 Boys 60m, Jack Martin Templemore AC U19 Boys 1,500m and Jennifer O’Leary Nenagh Olympic AC U17 Girls 800m.


Bronze medalists were Darragh Healy Newport AC U14 Boys Shot Putt, Lorna Ryan Templemore AC U14 Girls Shot Putt, Eoghan Dunne Borrisokane AC U17 Boys Long Jump, Anna Paxman Nenagh Olympic AC U16 Girls 200m, Jennifer O’Leary Nenagh Olympic AC U17 girls 400m, Dylan Bergin Nenagh Olympic AC U16 Boys 800m, Fionn Aird Clonmel AC U12 Boys 600m, Emer Brennan Clonmel AC U16 800m, Thomas Max Templemore AC U16 Boys 1,500m and Thomas Bergin Nenagh Olympic AC U18 Boys 1,500m.


A number of athletes secured fourth place at the Munster Indoors and qualified for the National indoors. They are Jay Quinlan Moyne AC U12 Boys High Jump, Niamh Madden Nenagh Olympic AC U16 girls Shot putt, Phoenix O’Farrell Rooney Borrisokane AC U15 Boys Shot Putt and 60m, Hugh Dineen Carrick-on- Suir AC Boys U13 Shot Putt, Dylan Jones Templemore AC Boys U15 Long Jump, Emily Davidson Nenagh Olympic AC Girls U18 long jump, Ronan Ryan Nenagh Olympic AC U17 Boys Long Jump, Ruairi Costin Clonmel AC U19 Boys long jump, Adam Prout Clonmel AC U14 Boys long jump, Dillon Walsh Newport AC U17 Boys 200m, Jack Gough Carrick-on-Suir AC U18 Boys 200m, Alex Moloney Templemore AC U19 Boys 60m and Ben Kelly Newport AC U12 Boys 60m.


DAY 3
Day 3 of the championships took place on Saturday, March 4 . Tipperary clubs again put in a strong performances.


Gold medals were won by Nenagh Olympic AC Boys U16 and U17 4x200m relay teams, Clodagh Donohue Nenagh Olympic AC U17 Girls Triple Jump and High Jump, Anna Paxman Nenagh Olympic AC U16 Girls Triple Jump, Lucy Fitzgerald Tipperary Town AC U18 Girls Triple Jump, Emma O’Neill Carrick-on- Suir U19 Girls Triple Jump and Cathal Ryan Templemore AC U18 Boys High Jump.


Silver medals were won by Moyne AC in Boys U9 4x100m, Morgan Deasy Borrisokane AC Boys U17 Shot Putt and Emma Carolan Nenagh Olympic AC Girls U19 Shot Putt.


Bronze medal winners were Newport AC Boys U11 4x200m, Templemore AC Boys U17 4x200m, Moyne AC Girls U10 4x100m, Nenagh Olympic AC Girls U16 4x200m, Sophie Walker Newport AC U17 Triple Jump, Jeffery Miles Templemore AC u17 Boys Shot Putt.


Fourth place finishers and securing a place at the National Indoors were Nenagh Olympic AC U17 Girls 4x200m and Eoghan Starr Borrisokane AC U18 Boys Shot Putt.


Well done to all athletes who competed over the three days of competition and we wish all those that have qualified for the national finals on March 25, April 1 and 2 the very best of luck.

COUNTY U9-JUNIORS
The County Tipperary U9-Junior Championships took place on Sunday March 5 in Nenagh, with a large turnout from all the clubs, considering the involvement of so many on Saturday.


Performances were of a high standard across both track and field events. The results may be found on the Tipperary Athletics Facebook page.


The next event, the Munster U9 to U11 Championships took place last Sunday.
The results are on the Munster Athletics website and details of Tipperary athletes will follow also.
