Fozzy Stack-trained Aspen Grove secured a massive win at the weekend
Tipperary-based trainer Fozzy Stack secured a marvellous win in the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks in what was his biggest win to date.
Aspen Grove had won a Group 3 at the Curragh previously but in recent times the daughter of Justify had been beaten in higher quality races.
The Stack trained horse came good on Saturday last at Belmont Park with Oisin Murphy on board to record a famous victory over a mile and a quarter.
The bay won the race in New York by three-quarters of a length and dwarfed Stacks previous big winner which was Aloha Star’s Group 2 win in the 2020 Airlie Stud Stakes.
The Tipperary trainer took over as a trainer in 2017 after his father's retirement and the latest victory was a huge one for all concerned.
Aspen Grove won at 157-10 (US Tote) while Prerequisite was second at 39/10 and Papilio was third at 76/10.
