Huge turnout from Tipperary at the recent Farmer Futures Matter rally

Farmers across the south east region, including many from across Tipperary, gathered recently in Kilkenny for a rally to highlight the important contribution of agriculture to the region.

At the Farmers Futures Matter rally in Kilkenny, Baden Powell North Tipperary IFA Chairman said the changes proposed under Nitrates regulations will have far-reaching implications for economic activity in rural Ireland.

Kilkenny IFA Chair Jim Mulhall encouraged farmers, their families and agri-businesses to come together to address the issues for everybody in the region to support farming.

Young farmers, in particular, are finding it difficult to access land due to the current market disruption.

A recent study by EY showed that Tírlan’s activity was worth €5.5bn and supported nearly 20,000 jobs.
