The popular show was cancelled last Sunday due to rainfall in the area
There was great disappointment across Tipperary last Sunday morning when the news broke that the Dualla Show was cancelled due to the weather conditions in the area.
A huge amount of rain fell on Saturday night and with a lot of surface water conditions at the venue deteriorated rapidly forcing the cancellation of the much-loved event.
The annual show draws people from near and far and has become a firm favourite of many from Tipperary and beyond.
It usually features showjumping, lifestock, trucks, food stalls, a dog show, a circus and much more however this year the area presented with difficult underfoot conditions.
This situation was proving a problem for organisers in the run up to the day but hopes were high that the event could go ahead however, despite a huge effort, the show had to be called off at short notice on Sunday morning.
About 20,000 poeple were expected at the show last Sunday and every possible effort was made beforehand, with people working around the clock, to see if the event could go ahead.
The difficult call was made to call off the event early that morning before the gates opened to the public at 10am.
The weather has plagued other events this summer with the Newcastlewest Show and the Swinford Agricultural Show also called off in recent times due to the prevailing weather conditions.
Organisers of the Dualla Show said on Sunday morning that they tried their best but they couldn’t go ahead with the show: “Unfortunately due to deteriorating weather conditions we regret to announce the cancellation of Dualla Show. ”
Despite the volume of work put in over previous months, the organisers felt it was not safe to hold the show this year.
They stressed that they did all they could to host the show.
For those that had prepurchased tickets for the event, the organisers will be processing refunds for general admission online tickets over the coming days.
